About NMDRE

Program Background

A drug recognition expert or drug recognition evaluator (DRE) is a police officer trained to recognize impairment in drivers under the  influence of drugs other than, or in addition to, alcohol. 

New Mexico DRE

The State of New Mexico has participated in the DRE Program since 1992. With drug-impaired driving cases on the rise, NMDRE is committed to continuously training officers how to recognize the drug-impaired driver.
